How to Find Your USPTO Trademark Examining Attorney

USPTO does not publish a public phone-book directory of trademark examining attorneys. You find the examining attorney on the individual application or registration — usually in TSDR Status (or Trademark Search detail fields) — using the serial or registration number. Do not confuse that person with the attorney of record (the applicant’s counsel).

Direct answer: Get your serial or registration number → open TSDR → Status → note TM Attorney / law office fields (labels vary). Optional: use this site’s search when live.

Checklist

  1. Get the serial number or registration number.
  2. Open TSDR → Status → note TM Attorney / law office fields (UI labels vary).
  3. Or open the Trademark Search result detail for the same fields.
  4. If the examining attorney is unavailable, USPTO points to law-office managing/senior attorney contacts.
  5. Optional: use findatrademarkexaminer.com search when that UX is live.

Trademark Search (TESS successor)

  • Hub: https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/search
  • TESS is retired — use cloud Trademark Search; Expert/field-tag mode for precision.
  • AT:"Name" is attorney of record, not examining attorney — call this out before relying on search tags.

Patent vs trademark

  • Patent examiner → findapatentexaminer.com / Patent Center
  • Trademark examining attorney → this site / TSDR

FAQ

How do I find my examining attorney?

TSDR Status for your serial or registration number.

Why isn’t there a full directory?

USPTO surfaces staff on the case file, not as a public phone book.

Is the attorney on the form the examining attorney?

Often that field is applicant’s counsel (AT:). Check TSDR TM Attorney / law office labels.
